Telcom Panel 2022

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

The return of the Telcom Panel illustrated that today's questions outnumber the answers. To mention a few, in the battle between OTT and CTV services, where does broadcast TV fit in? Are the big techs undermining our privacy? Should Texas be able to use surveillance technology on students? Should ownership caps for AM and FM be raised or eliminated? The NBA thinks so, how about you? Should anything be done about fake news or is it part of the cost of vigorous free speech? Is the stage ready for the return of 'Net Neutrality"? What does the FCC have in mind? Can the TRACED Act end robocalls?
There are many more issues simmering on the telecom back burner and we hope to stir the pot quite a few times at this years Telcom Update. Moderator: Fritz J. Messere, SUNY - Oswego
Panelists: Kim A. Zarkin, Westminster College - Salt Lake City; Paul MacArthur, Utica College; Laurie Thomas Lee, University of Nebraska-Lincoln; William R. Davie, University of Louisiana at Lafayette
Respondent: Dom Caristi, Ball State University
